TRANS-AM!
The SD Exia will be the first and probably the last SD that I will ever build,
why? I will share the dirty secrets behind SD.
Some may say that building SD is harder than MG, and I’ll have to agree.
yes they are cute, cheap and easy to snap build in a wink.
But trying to make it look good and painting? A nightmare I tell you!
then again, I know there’s plenty of (busy) people snap-fit-building their gunpla, are happy and totally satisfied with it.
I have nothing against that, I just can’t stand the plastic look/feel myself.
At least an MG usually looks decent, but SD’s? There’s the lack of detail, they can’t pose for shit and the colors are totally off sometimes. The biggest headache is masking all the tiny parts.
Example: chest or arms, on an MG, consists of seperate parts – making it easy to paint. but on and SD? it’s just one piece through. Sometimes the parts you need to mask are just a few mm in size -_-
In total it took over a month to ‘finish’ this SD Exia, for real, the box with skewers was just standing to collect dust. Everytime I looked at it, it annoyed me: so I decided to shoot pics of it, put it back in the box, get over with it and move on XD so here it is!
For fellow SD owners, can you discover the missing part? (yes I lost it!) and no it’s not the sidedishes on the head, the pics were taken on different days
