HK Loot version 2.0

Finally the weather in HK has turned back to ‘normal’, which means 30C, humidity levels that I can’t cope with as a gwai lo (gaijin) from Europe, smelly armpits and ants. Lots and lots of ants. (long story…) Anyway, I never think myself otaku, let alone NEET. However I admit I really enjoy hunting for new toys. Partly because I can’t do so back home (in the Netherlands/Holland) I’ve always liked mecha, robots and figures since I was a kid. But living in the west, I can only drool on the latest stuff online, order online. I can tell you the reallife experience can’t be beaten.

I can’t help imagining how great it would be if I could stop by all these (toy)shops after a long day work, things are different back home: almost every shop closes at 6pm. In Hong Kong: shops close at 10pm or even later. There’s always something to do, to see, to eat, 24/7

Then again it’s really easy to (over)spend money. That’s what you do when you visit places like HK, you do non-stop spending. buy buy buy!:

This is what I bought in my second week here, time really flies.
I’ll be in HK for 10 more days and I’m not even close done with shopping /sob I have some HUGE things that I want to buy still. It really doesn’t help that I’m staying in this village,

Far far away from Kowloon/HK Island where most toystores are located. But I discovered some hidden gems (as in toystores that aren’t wellknown) I’ll be writing a guide about all the great places and hotspots. Including a proper map. Because I think without a map you will be wandering around a lot like I do XD (heck, even with map it’s easy to walk past the building/shop you’re looking for. Oh well, exploring is fun too. I know I feel like Lara Croft when I find a new shady shoppingmall I’ve never been to.

BTW, at first I was afraid that my newly purchased Tokina 11-16 F2.8 lens was a bit soft, but after seeing what it’s capable of (on tripod) I can say this lens is nearly as sharp/good as a prime. I’ll be taking this baby with me outside for further testing this week. Really nice thing about buying from this large retailer is that you can return your purchase within 10days without a proper reason. So I have a few more days to test J
