IFFR 2009

Yup, it’s that time of the year again. The International Film Festival!  Time flies! it feels like yesterday when I went to see Appleseed: EX MACHINA with my buddy Shun back in 2008. Small report that I at OMNI last year:

———————————-

I promised my buddies at [AU] that I would show them bootleg footage from the theature lol, sadly I left my videocam in the car. not all is lost since every cellphone has a built-in cam these days, but the cam on my MIO A701? Totally rubbish.

At the old Luxor theature, not really suited for showing movies anymore but there’s this oldschool atmosphere. However the sound was almost painful to the ear, and halfway through the music went ‘mono’ suddenly.

I totally didn’t expect the director (Shinji Aramaki) to present his movie – he said something like he was totally thrilled when the movie was finished and that his english was pretty bad – his (engrish) translator made it even worse, a good example of ‘lost in translation’
but it was a nice surprise for most of the audience, there was no seat left empty!

Again a display of how shitty the cam is on my smartphone… you can’t even see the dude XD

Tickets:

Last but not least, I just dug up this old school Appleseed poster, which I bought at Forbidden Planet in London (back in 1995) I totally forgot I actually owned it haha, it was totally covered in dust n cobwebs XD

——————————————-back to the future

This year however is different, I’ve been hyping this up to everyone around me, people even got tired of me. But since the final line-up was announced last week I suddenly lost all my interest. Can’t say the lineup is bad this year.  Then again I’m somewhat disappointed there are no animations at all. Or maybe I’m feeling weird/moody because my company announced there will be layoffs. around 20% will be fired. luckily I’m not one of em. But it’s really hard to deal with my soon to be fired colleagues. Erm, yeah I’m going off-topic, the IFFR starts tomorrow, and it’s my day off! I should start ordering tickets already.
